I live two hours away from the 2010 Winter olympics. I know the open ceremonies are currently taking place (I do have a few Canadian channels) but according to NBC “the opening ceremonies are about to start shortly”.
Why the delay? I live in the same time zone – there should be no delay.
NBC – you suck.
I just spent the last two weeks working from a remote location in Thailand and one of the biggest challenges I faced while I was over there was keeping my laptop from overheating (no, I didn’t have air conditioning). Fortunately for me, before I left I picked up Belkin’s Laptop cooling pad. Despite it’s compact size and single fan, this cooling pad did an excellent job of keeping my mac at a reasonable temperature.
I consider the $23 I spent on the cooling pad money well spent and I will definitely be bringing this back with me when I return to Thailand in a few months.
I give the Belkin’s Laptop pad four out of five paws. It might not be the best way to keep your laptop cool in a hot country, but for $23, it’s hard to beat.
Once again, I’m sitting in the Taipei airport waiting for a flight. This time, I’m on my way back home to Seattle and Winnie is with me (It is so much more enjoyable traveling with her than without her.)
We have six hours to kill before our flight and we’re hanging out in the Evergreen Club on the upper floor of the airport. Hopefully the flight home will be enjoyable – we’re flying business class for this leg of the trip and the seats recline (not completely) into a little bed.
If anyone cares, we’re somewhere near N 25.07866, E 121.22956 (give or take a significant bit, it’s hard to get good GPS reception inside the airport lounge.
My writing this is proof, that in rural Thailand, in the middle of farm country, it is possible to get a DSL connection and have a reasonably fast connection to the internet. (That is, of course, when a rain storm and lightning strikes aren’t browning out the power.)
My flight landed in Taipei at 5:00AM. I have three hours to kill before my connecting flight. Nothing is open but the Starbucks that’s hidden away on the upper level. I don’t drink Starbucks in Seattle, so I’m definitely not going to drink it here. But they do have orange juice and Evian.
I think I’ll go hang out in the Hello Kitty waiting room (yes, I’m serious, there is one) and wait for my flight. I must be punchy.
